It's a standard Republican ploy:
When the reality on the ground would paint them in a bad light (aka, when the situation is a plus for the Democrats), the Republicans will find a means of turning it around by focusing on a trivial tangent.
What the embassy attack was called doesn't matter.
At all.
Focusing on the label is the Republicans' way of drawing attention from their culpability.
The facts on the ground:
Republicans cut security funding for embassies. An embassy was attacked and people were killed. It doesn't matter who the attackers were or what their ultimate motivation may have been. It matters that security cuts left the embassy vulnerable.
The label you attach to the attack is entirely immaterial to the real issue:
Republicans made Americans unsafe by cutting security funding.
It's time to stop playing defense on this. The Republicans caused the problem. We need to point this out and stop playing on their rhetorical turf.
